Final Race of the 2011 DTRA Season !

Saturday night will be the final points race for the 2011 DTRA season.  We are racing as part of the Havoc on the Highbanks at Marshalltown Speedway.  Pit gates will open on Saturday at 4:30 pm, Hot Laps will be at 6:30 pm with racing at 7:00 pm.  Pit passes will be $25.00, general admission for adults is $12.00.

You will need to sign in but you will not need to draw for heat race positions.  We will line up the heat races based on our overall point average.  We will redraw from the heat race finishes - based on truck count for the Feature line up.  We will use the Marshalltown Speedway scales after the heat races and feature event.  Raceceivers will be mandatory, be sure you have yours and that you have fresh batteries that will last for the entire evening.  Again, raceceivers will be MANDATORY.

I hope all of you are planning to attend, Toby has invited us for the last few years to this event and he comments how the fans at Marshalltown enjoy seeing the DTRA trucks race.  I hope we all turn out to support this event.  I will be working the lineup for the heat races, just before hot laps at 6:30.   If you are planning to attend but know you may be arriving later than 6:15, please call me so I can have you included in the heat race lineup.  Call my cell at: 515-333-3537.  If you have questions, please give me a call or e-mail.  Remember, I have no cell service at all in the building where I work so, you will need to call me after 6:15 pm in the evening.

Let’s have some fun and a great race at our last race of the season!  If you know of persons who may not be on the internet, please call them and pass on this information.  See you on Saturday, good luck and good racing . . .

Notice!!!

August 26th will be the final race of the season and the Season Championship at the Iowa State Fair Speedway.  The September 2nd date has been cancelled.  Also note, the Karl Chevrolet DTRA Truck Series will race on Saturday night August 27th at the Knoxville Raceway.  The Season will conclude on September 24th when the Series travels to the Marshalltown Speedway.

Busy Week for DTRA Drivers, Owners and Crews

Next week is the busiest week, so far, in 2011 for the Karl Chevrolet DTRA Truck Series.  Tuesday night, May 17th we share the show at Marshalltown Speedway with the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models.  Friday night, May 20th we return to racing at our home track, the Iowa State Fair Speedway and on Saturday night, May 21st the trucks will share the bill with three classes of sprint cars at the Knoxville Raceway.  A pretty exciting week at three premier Iowa tracks.

As is the case for all of our 2011 scheduled events, these three events will be overall points races.  The Tuesday night race and the Saturday night event heat races will be lined up by point averages, the features will be lined up based on a redraw of the top finishing trucks (to be determined by truck count) and finishing order from the heat races.  This is the same procedure we have used for the past several years during all or our away races.  Our standard Pay Out will apply to all three nights and as is standard at all races, DTRA will pay the difference from 6th place back, guaranteeing all competitors at least $100.00 to start the feature, paid by check at the next Friday night DTRA event.

Again, as with all of the scheduled DTRA events in 2011, it is mandatory that you use your raceceiver.  Please be sure to double check in your preparations that you have your raceceiver, fresh batteries and your ear pieces.  In the event that you will be arriving at the tracks late, please call me to let me know you will be competing so I can include you in the heat race lineups.  You need to be present or I need to know you are attending by 6:15 pm as lineups will be posted before the 6:30pm Hot Laps on Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway.  On Saturday night at Knoxville, I will again need to hear from you by 6:15 pm, the pit gates are closed and hot laps begin at 6:45 pm with time trials and or heat races beginning at 7:15 pm.  For additional information about Marshalltown Speedway log on at www.marshalltownspeedway.com and for information about Knoxville Raceway log on at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.

Let’s also remember to thank the staff and management at all of these tracks for scheduling DTRA events in 2011 . . . . . .

DTRA Drivers, Owners, Crews and Members,

This is a reminder that our first “Travel” race of 2011 is quickly approaching.  We are scheduled to compete next Tuesday night on the High-Banks of Marshalltown Speedway.  The DTRA Truck Series will be on the slate as the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models make their annual appearance at the Marshalltown Speedway.  Along with the Late Models and DTRA Trucks, the Mod Lites and IMCA – Karl Chevrolet Sport Mods will also be competing.

Again, the night is Tuesday night, May 17th.  The pit gates will open at 4:30 pm, Grandstands will open at 5:00 pm and hot laps will be at 6:30 pm sharp.  Toby Kruse and the staff at Marshalltown Speedway have been very supportive in scheduling the DTRA Trucks at Marshalltown and this is our first of two scheduled events there for 2011.  We need the support of all of or teams for this event, not to mention, it is a scheduled series points race.

As in all of the scheduled DTRA events in 2011, it is mandatory that you use your raceceiver.  Please be sure to double check in your preparations that you have your raceceiver, fresh batteries and your ear pieces.  In the event that you will be arriving at the  track late, please call me to let me know you will be competing so I can include you in the heat race lineups.  You need to be present or I need to know you are attending by 6:15 pm as lineups will be posted before the 6:30pm Hot Laps.  Racing will start promptly at 7:00 pm.

In the event that you see Toby Kruse during the night, please thank him for having the DTRA Truck Series at Marshalltown Speedway.  Good luck on Friday at the Iowa State Fair Speedway and see you in Marshalltown on Tuesday . . . .

Make-Up Races

Currently the DTRA Truck Series has two races to make up.  The first one will be the July 23rd race from the Iowa State Fair Speedway which will be made-up this coming Friday, Sept. 3rd.  To clear up some confusion, the only trucks that will be allowed to participate in this make-up race will be those who qualified for the feature through heat races on July 23rd.  The second make-up race is from the race at Marshalltown Speedway, August 31st.  The make-up race for this event will be held on September 18th during the Havic on the Highbanks event.  The only trucks that will be allowed to compete in that make-up race will be those who qualified for the feature through heat races on August 31st.

Any DTRA registered Truck that signs in on Friday, September 3rd for the season championship race, may compete in that scheduled, final Iowa State Fair Speedway event and any DTRA registered Truck that signs in on September 18th for the event at Marshalltown Speedway may compete in the scheduled Havic on the Highbanks event.

If you have questions about these final events of the season for the DTRA Truck Series, contact Chuck Stowe at: cstowe@winning.com or call:515-333-3537.

Change of Transponder Placement!

After reviewing all of the possible locations for placement of the transponders, I have made a decision to move the location from the l spot I had originally sent out, to a much better location.  The new location will be on the main frame rail, on the passenger side of the truck, approximately center of the drivers compartment.  All frames should have three holes which will serve as a reference  point.  One hole is on the top of the frame rail, one is on the bottom and the third one is on the outside of the frame rail.  At this point on the frame, there is a flat area and on each side of the flat area, there are indentions.  For your reference, I have attached two more photos of a transponder that has been mounted with rivets.  Please place your transponder mount in the same location as in these photos.  Again, if you have any questions please e-mail me at: cstowe@winning.com or call my cell during reasonable hours on the weekends and between 6:00 pm and 8:pm Monday thru Friday.

2010 DTRA Memberships Are Now Due

Driver/Owner and General Memberships for the 2010 DTRA season are now due.  Membership forms and information are available on the DTRA web site under the Membership tab.  Membership is required to participate in any DTRA event.  A membership form and your 2010 membership fees must be received and paid before you can compete in 2010 DTRA events.  For additional information contact DTRA Competition Director, Chuck Stowe at cstowe@winning.com

Transponders & Raceceivers for 2010

All DTRA trucks will be required to be equipped with transponders when in competition at the Iowa State Fair Speedway starting with the first race of the 2010 season. In preparation for this, I would ask that all DTRA competitors contact Mick Trier, prior to that first race and as soon as the practice days, to receive your transponder mount. The transponders will be issued each week when you check in at the track and must be returned before you leave the track.

In addition to the transponders, the trucks will also utilize Raceceiver Radios. They too may be picked up from Mick before opening night. The raceceivers and the transponders will not belong to you, they will be on loan to you for the season. You will need to purchase the transponder mount and the ear piece for the raceceivers. You may contact Mick by phone at: 515-201-5526 or by e-mail at: hotlaps@aol.com. If you have any questions of me, you may direct them to my e-mail address cstowe@winning.com or by calling my cell phone between the hours of 6:00 pm & 8:00 pm.

Please understand, the raceceivers and transponders will be mandatory at all races at the Iowa State Fair Speedway and you must have them to participate in hot laps, heat races and features beginning on opening night.

Also, Carl Moyer is providing DTRA drivers and crew members with t-shirts and hats. I will pass on more information regarding these and where you may pick them up as soon as the details are complete.

Pre-season Inspection Scheduled!

A pre-season truck inspection has been scheduled for Saturday, March 20th, 2010.  The inspection will be held inside, in the Commercial Service bay at Karl Chevrolet.  Recently the 2010 Board of Directors agreed that all trucks participating in the DTRA Series for 2010 will be required to pass a technical inspection prior to competition.  The inspection scheduled for March 20th will begin at 10:00 am and will end at 2:00 pm sharp!  Those who are planning to attend the inspection should bring tools and be prepared for a complete inspection of their truck by DTRA officials.  Also, those planning to attend should RSVP Chuck Stowe at: cstowe@winning.com that they are planning to attend and an approximant time they plan to be there.  The RSVP should be received by noon on Thursday, March 18th.  Those who are unable to attend the March 20th inspection will need to contact Stowe, to make arrangements for an inspection prior to the start of competition in 2010.
